what is AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is a national service program that enables Americans of all ages and backgrounds the ability to complete a service year with non-profit organizations all over the nation. Members use this year of service to address a critical community need. In exchange for their year of service, AmeriCorps members receive a living allowance, education awards, student loan deferment, and various other benefits.

Construction Volunteer Coordinator (National Position)

The Construction Volunteer Coordinator manages the volunteer calendar and schedules volunteer groups.  They act as a liaison between Habitat for Humanity's construction staff and outside organizations' volunteer groups.  They track the volunteer schedules and volunteer hours using the program Volunteer Matrix. They welcome volunteers as they arrive at construction and repair sites, facilitate morning sign-ins, collect waivers, and provide an orientation to the volunteers at the beginning of the volunteer shift. They also take pictures of the volunteer groups and send and analyze volunteer satisfaction surveys.  The hours are Tuesdays - Saturdays from 7:30am - 3:30pm.

Homeowner Services Program Coordinator (VISTA Position)

​The homeowner services programs coordinator VISTA member will work collaboratively with the Homeowner Services Director and Neighborhood Revitalization Manager to assist with the recruitment and application processes for a variety of housing products including new home construction, focus neighborhood home repairs, veteran and critical home repairs. Together with the Homeowner Services Director, the member will also develop, implement, and evaluate the community education program. Each new process and tool developed will be well documented and evaluated to ensure sustainability beyond the year of service.
